Confronted with the constantly increasing pipeline mileage and complex network structure, regulation of oil and gas pipelines is facing new challenges. Traditional automated regulation, which relies on fixed rules and manual experience, can no longer address these emerging issues. An intelligent decision-making system with data as its core and artificial intelligence as its engine is urgently needed in the industry. Based on the intelligent transformation of oil and gas pipeline regulation, a systematic theoretical framework and technical system for the intelligent hub was constructed for the first time, including its connotation, key technical systems, core application panorama, implementation plans, and application cases. The intelligent hub was defined as a decision-making brain that transcends traditional automation, utilizing data as production factor, AI as core driving force, and digital twins as key support, equipped with capabilities for autonomous perception, analysis, decision-making and optimization. A major transformation in oil and gas pipeline regulation, from human-dominated control to human-machine collaboration with intelligent dominance, was thereby achieved. A multi-level technical system was established, encompassing multi-source data fusion, artificial intelligence algorithms, numerical simulation and digital twins, knowledge graphs, and human-machine collaboration. On this basis, a panoramic application architecture featuring seven core functions, namely knowledge Q&A, automatic operation plan compilation, working condition identification, online simulation, equipment health management, safety early warning and automatic report generation, was further discussed. Implementation paths for the corresponding application scenarios were elaborated in detail. Finally, the challenges faced by the intelligent hub in terms of data value release and technology stack integration, as well as the corresponding solutions, were analyzed. This provides important references and theoretical support for achieving the paradigm shift from passive response to active decision-making in regulation of oil and gas pipelines.
