Peer Review Process

Science Technology and Engineering employs an online submission system and a rigorous peer review process. Reviewers are expected to adhere to the review guidelines (Section 1.1 Responsibilities of Reviewers) and possess the necessary expertise and time to ensure high-quality peer review. Reviewers should avoid evaluating manuscripts with which they have potential conflicts or competition. Impersonating others during the peer review process is considered a serious misconduct.

Initial Review: The editorial office conducts a preliminary assessment of the submitted manuscript to verify its alignment with the journal’s aims and scope, target readership, and to make an initial evaluation of its content quality and publication value.

Peer Review: The editorial office forwards the manuscript to expert reviewers in the relevant research field. These reviewers comprehensively evaluate the scientific merit, originality, practical value, soundness of the research design, and accuracy of the writing, providing specific feedback and recommendations.

Revision: The editorial office consolidates the comments from the reviewers and the journal, and forwards them to the authors.

Re-review: The editorial office re-examines the revised manuscript.

Final Editorial Review: Based on the external peer review reports, the Editor-in-Chief reviews the revised manuscript and makes the final decision on acceptance, further revision, or rejection.

During the Revision stage, authors will be notified via e-mail. Authors must log in to the Author Submission and Tracking System within the Author Center to view the reviewers’ comments, submit the revised manuscript, and provide a detailed response letter. The response letter should address each comment point-by-point. All modifications in the revised manuscript must be highlighted in a different font color to facilitate the editorial office’s review. Authors are required to return the revised manuscript within the specified timeframe.
