In order to improve the working performance of the welding mechanism of a brick packer, the evolution law of tribological behavior of conventional engineering materials under new working conditions was studied, and the adaptability of their wear performance in practical application was evaluated. The test parameters were determined by kinematics analysis. The finite element analysis method was used to complete the preliminary screening by comparing the contact mechanical properties of the five materials, and then the thermal-mechanical coupling analysis of the material was carried out. The tribological test of the welding arm material under different load constraints was carried out. The friction coefficient, wear amount and surface morphology change rules and characteristics of different materials were analyzed. Considering the wear resistance and economy of the material, the welding arm material of the packer was determined. The results show that Q235 is superior to other materials in contact pressure, penetration and thermal coupling stress. The test shows that the wear rate of Q235 decreases significantly with the increase of load due to the significant work hardening effect, and the wear mechanism is dominated by abrasive wear controlled by plastic flow. Based on the comprehensive calculation and test results, Q235 is determined to be the optimal material for the welding arm, and provides a theoretical model and experimental basis for the performance-oriented material selection of similar industrial equipment.
