Recent exploration in the northern Songliao Basin has demonstrated significant potential for sandstone-type uranium deposits, with the Sifangtai Formation being identified as the primary target layer due to its moderate sandbody thickness, stable scale, good connectivity, and effective overlying impermeable mudstone. Six drill cores from the Sifangtai Formation in the Lindian area were analyzed using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS) and CN elemental analysis to determine trace element concentrations and total organic carbon (TOC) content. The results indicate that in the Sifangtai Formation of the study area, TOC content ranges from 0.05% to 0.38% (indicating low organic content), P/Ti ratios range from 0.06 to 0.39, Th/U ratios from 0.17 to 33.3, δU values are mostly less than 1, V/Cr ratios from 0.31 to 9.04, V/(V+Ni) ratios from 0.31 to 0.92, Ni/Co ratios from 0.11 to 3.19, Sr/Ba ratios from 0.21 to 0.43, and Sr/Cu ratios from 8.02 to 54.75. These geochemical indicators collectively suggest that the Sifangtai Formation was deposited in a continental freshwater setting under a generally oxygen-rich, oxidizing water column with localized reducing conditions, reflecting a hot and arid paleoclimate and low to moderate paleoproductivity. The lack of correlation between TOC and paleoproductivity is attributed to oxidative consumption of organic matter in the depositional environment, resulting in low preserved organic carbon.
