Abstract

To investigate the solubility of CO2 in gas-dissolved crude oil and its effects on oil and gas gathering and transportation systems, this study focuses on crude oil from the Well Block 530 in District 8 of the Xinjiang Oilfield. Utilizing a self-designed and constructed constant-pressure dissolution reactor apparatus, the effects of different gathering pressures, temperatures, and water cuts on the solubility of CO2 in the gas-saturated crude oil were studied. The results indicate that: under identical temperature and water cut conditions, solubility increases with rising pressure, showing an increase of 19.44 m3/m3 when pressure exceeds 2.5 MPa. Under identical pressure and water cut conditions, solubility decreases with increasing temperature. Under identical pressure and temperature conditions, solubility initially increases and then decreases with rising water cut, reaching a peak within the water cut range of 20% to 40%. By comparing the prediction accuracy of the Standing, Glaso, and Vasquez-Beggs models, the Standing model was found to provide the best fit and is suitable for theoretical solubility calculations. This study provides data and theoretical support for the optimization of gathering systems.
