Abstract

In order to investigate the mechanical behavior of the shaft-spoke system in a mine hoist, a mixed-dimensional coupling model combining high-order beam and high-order plate theories within the Carrera unified formulation framework was constructed. Focusing on the shaft-spoke interface, a connector element endowed with displacement compatibility and degree-of-freedom matching was formulated. Effective coupling of the subsystems was achieved through fine discretization of the interface and regulation of graded stiffness transition.Under representative complex operating conditions of the hoist, numerical simulations of the connection structure were carried out. Circumferential distributions of the displacement and strain fields at designated verification points, together with nodal response curves, were obtained and analyzed. Cross-validation against an ANSYS solid finite-element model was performed to assess computational accuracy and engineering applicability. The results indicate that the CUF-based mixed-dimensional model exhibits good agreement with the finite-element analysis in both magnitudes and spatial trends, accurately capturing the mechanical response of the connection. Although the introduction of stiffness-transition elements increases local modeling error in the adjacent region of the interface, the overall error remains within engineering tolerance. These findings verify that the proposed connector-element-centered coupling approach is suitable for mechanical analysis and practical engineering applications of shaft-spoke connection structures in mine hoists.
