Coal seam mining in the Huanglong Jurassic Coalfield is severely restricted by water hazards from the extra-thick Luohe Formation sandstone aquifer. To address the water hazard issue of the extra-thick Luohe Formation sandstone aquifer in the Gaojiabu Coal Mine of the Binchang Mining Area, a water prevention and control scheme was proposed. It involved using ground directional boreholes to conduct lateral curtain interception and planar grouting reconstruction in the extra-thick Luohe Formation sandstone aquifer. Among them, the lateral curtain was consisted of 5 to 7 layers of directional boreholes. To ensure the precise injection of grout into the target section of the Luohe Formation, the secondary technical casings needed to be run down to the Luohe Formation. However, if a single directional drilling rig was used to complete the directional borehole of such a multi-layer curtain structure, it would face problems such as repeat rig relocation, repeat borehole opening, repeat running of primary and secondary technical casings, and repeat well cementing. These problems seriously restrict the construction period and increase costs. To this end, the main borehole of curtain grouting cluster wells and the casing reuse borehole-forming technology have been developed, with the specific technical process as follows. Adopt a three-section borehole structure consisting of directional borehole, a build-up section, and a horizontal section, and control the cementing height of the secondary technical casing within the build-up section. Use a casing cutter to cut the section without cement in the annular space of the build-up section of the secondary technical casing. Lift the secondary technical casing to the ground using the drilling rig, and determine whether the cut casing had been cut open or if the cutting position was reasonable through the pulling force of the drilling rig. The borehole was sealed with a concentrated cement slurry with a density greater than 1.5 grams per cubic centimeter. It was allowed to solidify for 72 hours to ensure the cement strength and guarantee the smooth construction of directional drilling for the curtain of other layers. The above-mentioned technical process was repeated until the curtain construction was completed. This technology has successfully solved the problem of hole formation for high-height curtain grouting cluster boreholes in the thick sandstone aquifer of the Luohe Formation. It not only achieves significant economic benefits but also ensures the precise injection of grout into the target interval of the Luohe Formation, and can be promoted and applied to other high-height curtain projects.
