Abstract

The quantitative restoration of the denudation intensity of carbonate rocks contributes to a profound understanding of paleogeographical environmental changes, sedimentary system evolution, and hydrocarbon reservoir formation. The northern part of Tahe Block 12 and well area YQ5 has undergone multiple tectonic movements. The denudation of the Yingshan Formation is extremely complex, and traditional methods for restoring the denudation amount have certain limitations. Based on the Milankovitch cycle principle and taking advantage of the complete recording of Milankovitch cycle information in the Yingshan Formation, high-precision sequence stratigraphic division of the non eroded area was carried out using natural gamma ray (GR) logging curves as alternative indicators. The study indicates that the ultra-long eccentricity cycle corresponds to the fourth-order sequence, the ultra-long obliquity cycle corresponds to the fifth-order sequence, and the long eccentricity cycle corresponds to the sixth-order sequence. The sedimentation rate of the Yingshan Formation is calculated to be 8.9~9.05 cm/ka, and the Yingshan Formation is divided into four fourth-order sequences, eight fifth-order sequences, and 23 sixth-order sequences. Subsequently, by comparing the high-precision sequence stratigraphic division of single wells in the denuded area and the non-denuded area, the corresponding formation denudation amount was obtained by multiplying the number of denuded sixth-order sequences by the average thickness of a single sixth-order sequence. Thus, a quantitative restoration method for the formation denudation degree in the strongly denuded area of deep-burial carbonate rocks was proposed. The results of the formation denudation amount restoration show that the overall denudation intensity of the Yingshan Formation increases from south to north, with local zonal differences. The denudation amount is the largest in the area where the Caledonian and Hercynian karstification overlap. The Milankovitch cycle analysis enables the quantitative restoration of the denudation amount in carbonate rock strata, providing theoretical support and reference for the oil and gas exploration of deep-burial carbonate rocks.
