Abstract

For tight oil reservoirs with well-developed interlayers and complex sand body connectivity, volume fracturing combined with waterflooding in highly deviated wells is an effective development strategy. However, research on fracture network characterization at the well pattern scale and evaluation methods for effective displacement connectivity in highly deviated wells remains limited. unconventional fracture model(UFM) model and Kinetix software were employed to simulate fracture propagation in highly deviated well groups under volume fracturing. Three well pattern-fracture network coupling modes were defined: fully external, fully internal, and mixed internal-external modes, and their planar and vertical fracture distribution characteristics were clarified. A comprehensive evaluation method was established to assess the effective displacement connectivity in highly deviated wells under different reservoir layers, orientations, and complex fracture network conditions. Two effective displacement connectivity modes of single-sided unidirectional and double-sided bidirectional were summarized, and the waterflooding utilization rules under different modes and well types were analyzed. The results indicate that, compared to the single-sided unidirectional mode, the double-sided bidirectional mode exhibits an increase of approximately 20 m in displacement distance in both the maximum principal stress direction and the perpendicular direction. Additionally, the reserves recovery degree increases by 5.3%, effectively enhancing the waterflooding displacement efficiency. Compared with vertical wells, highly deviated wells exhibit displacement distance increases of about 10 m and 17.5 m in the respective directions, with a 2.2% improvement in recovery, effectively expanding the swept area of waterflooding. The findings provide scientific guidance for optimizing volume fracturing design and waterflooding strategies in highly deviated wells of tight oil reservoirs.
