Abstract

Due to the influence of construction machinery and vehicles, low-frequency static and dynamic cyclic load vibration disturbance will significantly weaken the mechanical properties of soft clay. A series of laboratory tests were carried out on soft clay using the LD-8 dynamic consolidation permeator, a device developed independently. These tests were performed under varying confining pressures, frequencies, and disturbance durations to investigate the impact of low-frequency static and dynamic cyclic loading on the soft clay drainage. The results show that the vibration disturbance weakens the drainage deformation ability and the drainage treatment effect of soft clay. The disturbance effect of the low-frequency cyclic load is strengthened with the increase in duration, frequency and weakened with the increase of confining pressure. A new disturbance degree (RD) was proposed to quantitatively characterize the effect of cyclic vibration load on drainage deformation behavior, and its rationality was verified by comparison with previous research results. This paper can provide a valuable reference for dealing with the foundation treatment of soft clay affected by cyclic vibration.
