It has been revealed that the skarn-type iron deposits in Qihe-Yucheng rich iron ore key exploration area are influenced by multiple controlling factors, and the ore bodies exhibit complex morphologies during the prospecting process in the area. In order to conduct in-depth research on the spatial relationship between the intrusion zone and degree of alteration of intrusive rocks with iron ore bodies and subsequently determine the direction of iron ore exploration, the ore-controlling factors of the Guodian iron deposit and the relationship between metallogenic geological body-early Cretaceous diorite and the occurrence location of iron ore bodies are deeply analyzed based on analyzing the ore-forming geological conditions of the key exploration area. The study shows that iron ore bodies in the area mainly occur in the contact zone between Ordovician carbonate rock strata and early Cretaceous diorite, Ordovician carbonate rock strata, and Carboniferous-Permian clastic rock strata. During its formation of the diorite in the area, the intrusion and diagenetic height of the magma varied greatly due to different environments. Parts of diorite easily form "pivot points". In the process of establishing the mineralization model of the deposit, the paper proposes the "pivot effect" of the diorite rock in the study area. The study shows that the iron ore in the area at the "pivot points" is not easy to form iron ore bodies, but surrounding rock experienced high degree of thermal contact metamorphism and diorite alteration occurred with low intensity. It is concluded that thick and massive iron ore bodies easily formed in large structural spaces, which were located in surrounding areas of the "pivot points". Identification criteria for identifying "pivot points" such as strata, intrusive rock, structure, contact zone, alteration, magnetic anomaly, gravity anomaly, electrical anomaly, seismic anomaly, etc was categorized and summarized. The study provides a comprehensive theoretical foundation and prospection guidance for the iron ore exploration in target areas in stages and steps, using in-depth research on the "pivot effect" of the metallogenic geological bodies in skarn-type iron deposits.
