Abstract

Wheel abrasion is an important influencing factor of wheel-rail contact relationship, which has a direct impact on the vehicle's dynamic performance, operational safety and ride comfort. As an abnormal form of wheel wear, double pit wear not only affects the stability and comfort of the vehicle, but also increases the maintenance cost of the wheel, which has become an important problem in rail transportation operation. Based on the measured hardness data of subway wheel tread, the rigid-flexible coupling vehicle dynamics model and Archard wheel wear model were established considering the local hardness change of the wheel, the wear process of the wheel under different hardness conditions in the same mileage as well as the corresponding dynamics was analyzed, and the effect of the hardness change of the nominal rolling circle of the wheel tread on the double-pit wear was studied. The results show that with the accumulation of mileage, the depth of double-pit wear on the wheel tread shows a gradual increase. At the same operating mileage, the increase in hardness at the nominal rolling circle leads to a greater localized pressure during the contact between the wheel and the track, which intensifies the wear in the areas on both sides of the rolling circle. Compared to the axle transverse force and derailment coefficient, the change in wheel weight reduction rate is more pronounced with increasing hardness.
