The Bozhong Sag is one of the most hydrocarbon-generating sags with the richest oil and gas in China, and the Bozhong 19-6 gas field is the first large-scale, 100-billion-square-meter atmospheric field in eastern China. Combined with the superimposed deformation process of the Indosinian and Yanshan periods in the Bozhong Sag, based on the principle of similarity of sand box physical simulation experiments and experimental simulation methods, the controlling influence of the superimposed tectonic deformation of the two phases on the tectonic deformation characteristics of the Bozhong Sag was revealed. The results of physical simulation experiments of the sand box show that multiple pre-developed thrust faults and their related folds were formed by early compression. The early faults were activated by superimposed deformation in the late stage, and the fault spacing and strike deflection of the faults in the first stage increased, forming a tectonic transition zone. The ratio of the length and short axis of the quantitative strain marker increases from 1.0 to about 1.5, the long axis trend changes from 90° to 45°~60°, the east-west trend changes to the north-east-south-west trend, the superimposed rotational deformation of nearly 45° occurs, and the fault distance generally increases by more than 0.2 cm, especially in the strong superposition area. The structural styles of the superimposed area of the two-stage extrusion structure are complex and diverse, and there are shingle-type thrust thrust structures, backthrust structures, thrust dual structures and thrust-related folds. Combined with the typical seismic profile and the experimental results, the tectonic movement of the Yanshan period caused the rotational deformation of the Indosinian fault strike by 30°~45°, and the fault distance generally increases by 20%. The experimental results have a high similarity with the real strata, and the fault penetrates deep into the basement, providing a channel for oil and gas migration into the basement reservoir, which is one of the key elements for further formation of oil and gas reservoirs.
