The deep coalbed methane (CBM) exploration in Jinzhong area faces challenges including complex surface structures, low signal-to-noise ratio of seismic data, and high-resolution requirements for thin coal seams. In order to optimize the best acquisition parameters suitable for this area, improve the composition image accuracy of deep coal seam reflection waves, and support the prediction and development deployment of coalbed methane “sweet spots”, taking the reflection wave group of the Carboniferous Taiyuan Formation coal seam as the target, a systematic comparative test on the dosage, depth and combination mode of seismic excitation drugs was carried out for four surface structure types: bedrock area, thick dry loess area, water-bearing loess area and red soil area. Comparative tests on the combined graphic reception of analog geophones, as well as comparative tests on seismic acquisition of two two-dimensional observation systems: small path distance single line and large path distance wide line. The results show that with a dosage of 5 kg to 6 kg of explosives, single-well excitation at 5 m to 7 m below the top surface of the high-speed layer in the bedrock area, single-well excitation at 7 to 9 m below the top surface of the deceleration layer in the water-bearing loess area and the laterite area, and a combined excitation of three wells at 9 m below the top surface of the deceleration layer in the thick dry loess area, the combination reception of the “two parallel lines” shaped small base distance of the analog detector. The wide-line two-dimensional observation system with a track spacing of 20 m, an arrangement length of no more than 4 000 m, and a coverage times of no less than 240 times is an effective method to improve the seismic imaging of reflected wave groups in deep coal seams. The quality of the newly collected profiles is significantly better than that of the previously collected seismic profiles. The energy of the reflected wave groups in the coal-bearing strata of the Taiyuan Formation is strong, and the main frequency has been increased to 39 Hz (originally 26 Hz). This technology has promotion value for the exploration of deep coalbed methane in similar complex areas.
