Abstract

In order to meet the demands for promoting China's subway trains to the global market, an industrial design method was proposed for metro trains based on the interpretative structural modeling-analytic hierarchy process approach. Through literature review and expert consultation, factors influencing metro train industrial design were identified. The interpretive structural modeling method was used to analyze the hierarchical structure of these influencing factors, while the analytic hierarchy process was employed to rank their importance. A case study of the Bogota metro train design was conducted to validate the method based on target market demands. The results indicate that the influencing factors of metro train industrial design include technical, human, aesthetic, and cultural factors. The hierarchical relationships reveal that standard conditions serve as the foundational layer influencing all design factors. Driving operability and regional culture act as direct layers influenced jointly by styling and painting factors, while passenger comfort is directly impacted by material and craftsmanship factors. The research results provide theoretical and methodological guidance as well as case references for the globalized design of metro trains.
