The evaluation of the degree of Karst development is considered essential for predicting water gusher events and other potential disasters in tunnel engineering. Most existing studies on the partitioned structural anticline area in eastern Sichuan are primarily focused on the mechanisms of Karst development, with an emphasis on qualitative analyses, while quantitative predictions of the degree of Karst development are often neglected. This limitation fails to meet the requirements for fine-grained assessments at the site scale. In the current evaluation framework, qualitative assessments are recognized for their practical value in engineering applications; however, the accuracy of quantitative indicators is significantly compromised. From investigation for the characteristics of Karst development, CkDQ, identified as a key factor influencing Karst formation under anticlinal control, was selected as a qualitative index for assessing the degree of Karst development. Based on the hydrochemical dynamics associated with Karst groundwater, Matlab software was utilized to calculate CkDF, the fractal evaluation metric. Both qualitative and quantitative methodologies were applied to evaluate the extent of Karst development within the Jiajiaoshan anticline. The results indicate that this approach is effective in providing a comprehensive evaluation of Karst strength within the study area. The findings are shown to align well with borehole data, geophysical exploration outcomes, and actual observations regarding local Karst conditions. This method is demonstrated to more accurately reflect variations in Karst development across different areas within an anticlinal structure. The accuracy and reliability of the evaluation system are thoroughly validated. This research is regarded as offering valuable insights that can enhance future technologies related to evaluating degrees of Karst development and improving prevention and control of karst water hazards in tunnel engineering.
