In order to explore the medication rules of the Tongyang method of Ye Tianshi, a famous physician of the Qing Dynasty, the medical cases of Ye Tianshi on Tongyang treatment contained in the Chinese Medical Code were searched to establish a prescription database of Tongyang method, and the data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, association rule analysis, and cluster analysis using R Studio, VOSviewer, and pajsks. The results show that a total of 92 medical cases are included after screening, and 87 therapeutic prescriptions are collected after deleting duplicates, involving 131 Chinese herbs, with a total frequency of 545 times, and the top 15 Chinese herbs with the highest frequency are Poria cocos, Radix et Rhizoma Pinelliae, Radix et Rhizoma Gingerae, Radix et Rhizoma Gingerae, Semen Haematocritus, Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Cinnamon twig, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix et Rhizoma Piperitiae, Atractylodes macrocarponis, Rhizoma Cistanches, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Rhizoma Zedoariae and Cumin. The medicinal properties are mostly warm, the medicinal flavors are mostly spicy, and the kidney, liver and spleen meridians are the main meridians. The drug association rules and co-occurrence patterns suggested that Poria-anemarrhena, Poria-ginger, and anemarrhena-dry ginger are commonly used drug pairs for Tongyang, and five potential drug groups are also obtained by clustering. It revealed that the mining of medical cases related to Ye Tianshi's Tongyang using data mining technology is conducive to the further inheritance of the idea of Tongyang and provides a reference for clinical and literature research.
