The acceleration of wake vortex dissipation, a critical aspect in aircraft spacing, has consistently been a focal point of research for scholars both domestically and internationally to enhance airport capacity. A numerical simulation experiment was conducted based on real terrain to study the effect of terrain on the evolution of wake vortices. The F-configuration A332 wing model was selected as the proposed research scenario for landing on runway 02R at Chongqing Jiangbei Airport. Fluent software was used to conduct numerical simulation experiments based on the SST k-ω turbulence model, and the calculated results were compared and analyzed with those under no terrain conditions. The investigation indicates that the maximum sinking distance in terrain situations is 22 times greater than that in non-terrain conditions. The terrain's alteration of the wake vortex's structure can expedite the Crow long-wave instability, enabling the dissipation of the inboard flap fuselage vortex to occur at around 9 wingspan locations. The topography can restrict the extent of the wake vortex's influence. The highest decrease in vortex core spacing under terrain conditions is around 26.5%. Consequently, the actual terrain analyzed positively influences the mitigation of wake vortex encounters for subsequent aircraft, decreases wake vortex separation, and enhances runway capacity.
