Abstract

In order to promote the "Zero Carbon China" initiative and enhance energy utilization efficiency, chemical looping hydrogen generation (CLHG) technology and solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) were introduced into integrated energy systems. The goal was to simultaneously supply energy while separating pure carbon dioxide. Firstly, to avoid the carbon deposition issue caused by using hydrocarbon fuels in SOFCs, CLHG was employed to supply hydrogen to the SOFC, thereby constructing a CLHG-SOFC combined cycle system and an integrated energy system framework. Secondly, an optimization scheduling model for the integrated energy system based on CLHG-SOFC was developed. A comparison was then made between traditional steam methane reforming (SMR) hydrogen production and SMR combined with methyl diethanolamine absorption technology for CO2 capture, both integrated with SOFC. Finally, sensitivity analysis was conducted to assess the impact of SOFC operating temperature and pressure on system operation costs and carbon emissions. The results indicate that the combination of CLHG and SOFC has significant advantages in terms of hydrogen production, carbon emission reduction, and system operational economics.
