Existing literature usually only discuss smart shipping or intelligent manufacturing of ships, by literature review and case study, the digital shipping and shipbuilding framework (DSSF framework) was put forward from the perspective of shipbuilding enterprises, and the main components of the framework, including industry 4.0 technologies, digital twin of autonomous ships and shipbuilding, and objectives of industry 5.0 were analyzed. The DSSF framework was proposed to fill the theory blank of the combination of smart shipping and shipbuilding, effectively promote Chinese shipbuilding enterprises to extend perspective in promoting industrial 4.0 technologies application, and it will mainly promote the vertical integration and horizontal integration of shipping and shipbuilding industry value chain.
