Abstract

The occurrence, pre earthquake prediction, post earthquake trend judgment, seismic parameter setting, seismic zone structure, seismic damage characteristics, and basic information of surrounding seismic activity of the 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Jishishan, Gansu on December 18, 2023 was introduced. The modulation of the earthquake occurrence date and the influence of mutual construction were analyzed, and the possibility of future earthquake occurrence was also briefly analyzed. It is believed that the risk of intersecting southern and northern faults will increase. Especially in the northern edge of the West Qinling Mountains, where the fault is located in the eastern section of Gansu, the possibility of earthquakes increases. The setting of seismic intensity zoning (seismic motion zoning) in previous seismic regions are elaborated and reviewed. Based on the disaster caused by this earthquake, some suggestions are proposed, including earthquake science and social policies.
