Abstract

In order to examine the interaction between electric ducted fans (EDFs) and a wing, Ansys Fluent software was employed to create a three-dimensional computational model of the NACA0012 airfoil. Numerical simulation techniques were then applied to investigate the influence of various EDF parameters on the airfoil's aerodynamic performance. The results show that, in 3D simulations, the wing's lift coefficient increased by a maximum of approximately 20%. Notably, smaller EDFs mounted on the wing's upper surface exhibited the most significant lift improvement. The analysis further reveals that the impact of EDF spacing on lift enhancement varied depending on the angle of attack. It is concluded that detailed pressure coefficient distribution analysis illustrated that EDFs generated a substantial low-pressure region on the upper surface of the wing, contributing to improved aerodynamic performance. In summary, it is concluded that EDFs can effectively enhance an airfoil's lift, although numerous influencing factors require further optimization to determine the optimal configuration.
