Abstract

In order to address the impact of various parameters of non-metallic pipelines on the response of ground penetrating radar, the factors that affect the response of ground penetrating radar are identified. A forward model was established by combining the finite time domain difference method and the vector component finite difference method. Using the electromagnetic wave simulation software GPRMax3.0, a large number of practical situations were simulated, and different antenna frequencies were used to detect the shape, material, burial depth, and other characteristics of different pipelines. The influence of different parameters of non-metallic pipelines on radar response was simulated using this model, where the diameter of the pipeline has a decisive impact on the echo intensity. The simulation results are consistent with the actual situation, proving the effectiveness of this model.
