Abstract

For the existing problem of separating easily and bad durability of interface of pothole repair, a new type of 3D-geogrid was used to enhance the interface mechanical mechanism. Further, based on the finite element numerical method, the interface performances with or without 3D-geogrid were investigated comprehensively under considering the effect of the elastic modulus of filling materials, pothole depth, and location of the surface load. The calculated results show that using a 3D-geogrid reinforcement layer at the pothole repair interface can improve the interface stress and significantly reduce the shear stress and tensile stress at the pothole repair interface. The larger the elastic modulus of the filler, the more obvious the reduction effect. Strengthening the depth of pothole repair leads to a gradual decrease in bottom shear stress and tensile stress. The most unfavorable position for the traffic loading on the top surface of the potholes groove is at the interface of the pothole groove side, while the 3D-geogrid interface reinforcement layer can significantly reduce the peak stress values.
