Abstract

Based on the discharge emission spectral characteristics and ultraviolet (UV) radiation transmission properties in the solar-blind UV wavelength range, a non-coaxial visible and UV imaging system for solar-blind UV imager was integrated. Firstly, the emission spectra of needle-plane model and surface discharges on porcelain insulators in the solar-blind UV wavelength range were obtained using an emission spectral measurement test platform. The UV imaging system was designed with a non-coaxial dual-optical-path structure. Based on the measured emission spectra, a solar-blind UV bandpass filter was selected, and the technical parameters of the UV optical system, including the effective aperture, system focal length, and 80% encircled energy radius, were determined based on the UV radiation transmission properties. Furthermore, a visible and UV image fusion system was designed using an affine transformation model and weighted averaging method. The integrated prototype of the system achieved a minimum UV sensitivity of 2 ×10-10 μW/cm2. Finally, the radiation transmission model of UV detection was established by using the consistency calibration method of UV detection results, and the consistency calibration of the UV imager was carried out.
