Abstract

To improve the existing temperature field control technology for mass concrete and to apply temperature control measures more effectively using inhibitors while reducing construction cost, a regulating model was proposed. This model was based on an adiabatic temperature rise equation for concrete mixed with inhibitors of different delayed heat release times. The distribution of temperature fields for mass concrete subjected to different temperature control measures involving inhibition was investigated using the model. Specifically, under the working conditions of delayed heat release of 0 ~ 3 d, the internal temperature peak and temperature difference between the inner and outer surfaces of the mass concrete decrease continuously as the delayed heat release time increases. However, under the working conditions of delayed heat release of 5 ~ 10 d, heat accumulation in multi-layer poured concrete occurs due to the prolonged delayed heat release time. A three-day inhibition of heat release meets the temperature control objectives, For a one-day inhibition of heat release, the temperature control objectives are achieved by reducing the initial temperature of the concrete in the mold by 1 ~ 2 ℃. In conclusion, this research introduces a new concept and method for regulating the temperature field of mass concrete.
