Abstract:With the development of aerospace technology, it has become possible for aircraft to change their geometric shape, and the vortex lattice method can play an important role in accelerating the design process of variant aircraft. The application of Vortex Lattice Method in the design of morphing wing is analyzed in this paper, involving planform morphing, airfoil morphing and our-of-plane morphing. Firstly, a review of the development history of Vortex Lattice Method is conducted, indicating that its superiority over other flow field solvers is due to its low order and efficient computational and analytical capabilities. Then, a thorough review is conducted on the theories related to steady Vortex Lattice Method, unsteady Vortex Lattice Method, and nonlinear Vortex Lattice Method. Finally, the application of vortex lattice method in morphing wings is discussed, including the application of aerodynamics, aeroelasticity and transient dynamic modeling in morphing processes, and its future development trend in morphing wing design is analyzed. In the future, further research is necessary to improve the numerical stability, nonlinear correction methods, and the exploration of the vortex lattice method for the overall aerodynamic characteristics of morphing aircraft, in order to enhance the engineering application of the vortex lattice method in the design of morphing wings.
