Abstract:The global trend of population aging is intensifying. Chronic diseases are highly prevalent among the elderly. The size of the population with disabilities or semi-disabilities is large. These factors drive the increasing demand for daily living assistive devices for older adults. To address the challenges of global deep aging, a systematic review is conducted in this paper. The development and future trends of daily living assistive devices are reviewed. A narrative review method is employed. The domestic and international development of six categories of assistive devices from 2010 to 2025 is analyzed. These categories include living, bathing, eating, mobility, toileting, and communication. Significant progress is observed in both domestic and international contexts across the six categories. A complementary pattern is revealed. International technology leads in intelligence. Domestic products focus on practicality. Notable deficiencies are still found in existing assistive devices. These include environmental adaptability, human-machine integration, and the diversity of care needs. Future development must prioritize several aspects. Data-driven personalized care solutions are emphasized. Natural and intuitive intelligent interaction technologies are required. A unified standardized assessment system is needed. A robust data security framework is also essential. These efforts advance daily living assistive devices toward greater intelligence, human-centricity, and inclusivity.
