With the development of new energy technology, lithium resources have gradually become an important material for the development of the industry. The research on the development and utilization of lithium resources plays an important role in meeting the increase of lithium consumption. In this paper, α- Bromo dodecanoic acid(α- BDDA) as collector, the effects of metal ions (Ca2+, Mg2+, Cu2+ and Fe3+) on the flotation separation of spodumene from feldspar and quartz were studied by single mineral flotation and artificial mixed ore flotation experiments. The experimental results show that when pH ≈ 7, Ca2+, Mg2+ and Cu2+ can improve the flotation characteristics of spodumene, while Fe3+ has low selectivity for spodumene, which is not conducive to the separation of spodumene. Metal ions and the addition order of α- BDDA also has a significant impact on the flotation separation of spodumene from feldspar and quartz, The addition of Ca2+ and Mg2+ before the introduction of α- BDDA is conducive to the separation of spodumene, while the addition of Cu2+ after the introduction of α- BDDA is conducive to the separation of spodumene. It also shows that Ca2+ and Mg2+ as activators can effectively separate spodumene from feldspar and quartz. By using Ca2+ and Mg2+ as activators for artificial mixed ore flotation test, concentrates with recoveries of 75.6% and 76.3% and Li2O grades of 5.8% and 5.2% can be obtained respectively.
