The description of four basic operators in binary and gray scale morphology is introduced.The method of selecting structure element is analyzed and the application of mathematical morphology in image preprocessing is discussed.Based on binary or gray scale basic operators,the technical characteristics and method of realization of mathematical morphology in several aspects of image preprocessing,including de-noise,edge detection and break-point connection,are analyzed.
