In order to size up the situations of teaching and scientific research in Hong Kong universities, author paid a visit to Hong Kong Polytechnic University with the delegation of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. A general introduction to the university and expounds his thoughts and feelings are given . The mainland universities should learn from Hong Kong Polytechnic University in many aspects. The higher engineering education should be oriented toward practicality.
